Cellar Dispense International introduce a step change in FOB detector design

logo

Cellar Dispense International have designed a new FOB detector with two major advances. Firstly, the FOB detector has a single button operation both simplifying and ensuring the correct use of the device. Secondly, and uniquely, the liquid enters from the top of the bowl which ensures that during line cleaning the entirety of the bowl is sterilized thereby increasing the lifespan of the product.

Furthermore, the material in the new FOB uses a newly developed plastic that inhibits bio-film growth. The first production parts are now being trialled by major breweries and cellar installation/maintenance companies.

From the matrix below showing the comparison of function and operation for the current FOBs to the new One Button FOB there are 3 and sometimes 4 operations for the current FOBs and only 1 operation for the One Button FOB. Therefore, the One Button FOB simplifies the operating process while also eliminating the possible two elements of potential human error with the current FOBs.

Function Current FOBs operations One Button FOB operation
Purge line Operation 1

Press/turn FOB valve until line clear of FOB.

Operation 1

Press spring-loaded button and then release once FOB has been purged.

During purging the spring-loaded button will have switched off the supply to the tap and released the float off its seal

Operation 2

If FOB valve is not spring loaded, then turn valve to closed position (See Note A)

Active float off seal Operation 3

Push/turn button/lever into its positive location so the float is released off its seal.

Reset FOB Operation 4

Push/turn button/lever back into the dispense position (See Note B)

Note A In the event of this valve being left open unattended the contents of the keg will be lost.
Note B If this button is not put back in its correct position the FOB will fail when a keg becomes empty and FOB will come out in the bar and splash customers.

You may notice the shorter bowl height of the new FOB design. With this method of fluid flow, it can produce a continuous flow rate of a pint in 4.8 seconds. Although this high flow rate will never be required, it demonstrates that the bowl size and shape is sufficient to not impede flow.

Cellar Dispense International is a newly formed Company founded by the very experienced Ken Simpson who has for many years worked on enhancing the value of products that are found in cellars. Currently being developed and soon to be introduced into production are:

  • Beer in a bag for both keg and cask beverages which can overcome the associated costs of sterilisation of the containers especially when dealing with No/Lo alcoholic products.

  • Low-cost S type keg couplers with integrated tube speed-fittings
