DOLIUM, a worldwide leader in one-way packaging solutions has partnered with Freedom Hygiene based in Lincolnshire for distribution of its one-way kegs in the United Kingdom, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.

Founded in 2013, DOLIUM offers a user friendly, cost-efficient, and sustainable alternative to stainless steel kegs. DOLIUM® solves the problems many beverage companies face with the high costs of low-rotation markets and long-distance shipping. DOLIUM is the only one-way keg on the market that is 100% recyclable – and prioritizes safety through the supply chain due to its patented Automatic Pressure Release Valve. DOLIUM is based in Antwerp, Belgium with distribution partners in 35 countries and a regional head office in the US.

Freedom Hygiene is a technology driven company whose mission is to seek out innovative solutions that enable manufacturers and processors to reduce bacterial contamination in their facilities, extend production runs and, where applicable, prolong product shelf life. Freedom Hygiene works with some of the biggest names in food and drinks manufacturing as well as dairies, breweries, distilleries, small food processors and healthcare companies.

Founded by Paul Browning (founder and former owner of Pentasol FB Ltd – now part of Diversey), Freedom Hygiene now focuses on providing innovative environmentally friendly cleaning solutions to First Generation Breweries and assisting them with critical micro issues employing cutting edge technologies for the rapid identification and elimination of beer spoilage organisms.

“The stainless-steel keg or cask is the one piece of brewing equipment that the brewer does not have total control of when it comes down to hygienic cleaning,” stated Paul. “The time between emptying the container and cleaning it out back at the brewery can be days, weeks and even months, and in the warmer summer months the internal surfaces are probably heavily infected with biofilms which are resistant to conventional detergents and disinfectants and inevitably this will lead to beer spoilage.”

“Not only are Dolium One Way PET kegs 100% recyclable there are no return trips and are better for the environment. As a microbiologist, for me, the biggest advantage is that Dolium provides a sterile container every time and optimizes beer quality and shelf life; the perfect container, for the perfect pint.”
