Seminar – E. Coli STEC and Salmonella

E.coli

Join us for our upcoming seminar where experts will discuss the latest issues surrounding E.coli STEC and Salmonella. Here are some of the speaker highlights:

Prof Roberto La Ragione, University of Surrey

Enterohaemorrhagic and other shiga toxin-producing STEC

Roberto is the Head of Pathology and Infectious Diseases, Director of the Veterinary Pathology Centre and Deputy Head of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Surrey. His research has focused on the analysis of colonisation, shedding and transmission of E. coli, Campylobacter, Salmonella and other foodborne pathogens by farmed animal species. He has published over 150 peer reviewed publications.

Dr Kaye Burgess, Teagasc

Investigating the causes of PCR positive/culture negative STEC samples

Kaye is a molecular microbiologist and Senior Research Officer. Her research focus is on understanding the behaviour and virulence of foodborne pathogens and antimicrobial resistant microorganisms along the farm to fork chain. She is particularly interested in the role that stresses encountered in the food chain may have on the adaptation and persistence of foodborne pathogens.

Mark Williams, British Egg Industry Council

The Lion Quality scheme – a UK success story

Mark has had a number of roles in the poultry industry. After managing an egg production farm, he became a Regional Poultry Adviser for the NFU and later Chief Executive of the British Egg Industry Council.
