BoxWay Packaging Group, an innovative and customer-centric corrugated packaging provider, has reached a significant sustainability milestone. The company has officially achieved Carbon Neutrality for its ‘Operational Control’ emissions, marking a crucial step in its long-term Net Zero strategy.

Measuring and Offsetting Emissions for a Greener Future

With support from leading sustainability consultants at Turning The Black Country Green (TTBCG.com), BoxWay measured its emissions for the reporting period between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2024. This included:

  • All Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions

  • Seven out of the 15 categories in Scope 3

After calculating the total emissions, BoxWay took decisive action. It offset its carbon footprint by purchasing and retiring verified carbon credits, resulting in official Carbon Neutral status within the company’s Operational Control boundary.

Commitment to ISO Certification and Beyond

Andrew Woollard, CEO of BoxWay Packaging Group, outlined the company’s next phase:

“We are now focused on measuring and mitigating the remaining eight Scope 3 categories. Our goal is to secure ISO 14068-1 Carbon Neutral certification by 2025.”

This certification will serve as official recognition that all BoxWay products carry a zero carbon footprint. Moreover, it reflects the company’s determination to lead the industry in sustainability.

Strategic Plan for Net Zero by 2045

Building on this initial success, BoxWay has developed a detailed decarbonization plan. The plan aims to:

  • Cut Operational Control emissions by 50% by 2035

  • Achieve full Net Zero status by 2045, five years ahead of the UK government’s national target

Furthermore, the company will collaborate across its supply chain to ensure partners align with these climate goals. This unified approach will help accelerate progress industry-wide.

Driving Change in Procurement and Performance

Woollard continued:

“Climate change is a global challenge that affects everyone. While we can’t solve it overnight, we now have a clear plan in place. Not only are we working toward environmental sustainability, but we’re also securing long-term business resilience.”

“Today, procurement decisions are no longer driven solely by cost and service. Increasingly, businesses want suppliers who can demonstrate carbon responsibility.”

Offsetting with Global and Social Impact

To reach Carbon Neutrality, BoxWay invested in verified carbon offset projects across four countries. These initiatives don’t just remove carbon from the atmosphere—they also provide social, humanitarian, and environmental benefits, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As a result, BoxWay’s sustainability actions support both local communities and global climate progress.

Expert Support and Shared Responsibility

Dom Napier, Managing Director of TTBCG.com, applauded the BoxWay team:

“We’re proud to support BoxWay Packaging Group in reaching this important milestone. The climate crisis is real, and businesses must act now.”

He emphasized the urgency with a quote from Sir David Attenborough:

“Right now we have the capacity and knowledge to stop the damage we are doing. What we don’t have is time.”

Leading the Packaging Sector Toward a Greener Future

Ultimately, BoxWay Packaging Group is proving that sustainable packaging is not only possible but essential. By combining innovative design with climate action, the company is helping to transform the packaging industry.

In addition, BoxWay’s forward-thinking approach sets a powerful example for businesses across the UK and beyond.
