For all IBD members the new issue of their highly rated magazine is available now.

This time with articles about floor malting and how this traditional process is having a revival in the craft sector; pure spirit or how to remove impurities to produce top quality gin and vodka; a feature about how to have a sustainable and successful career in the industry; and information about the International Beer & Cider Awards.

It’s September already and we move towards the final straight of a difficult and extraordinary year which has held many challenges. So, with the opening date for the 2022 Diploma and Master exams fast approaching it is a good time to call your attention to the Bursaries and Scholarships available to support the cost of training and qualifications with the IBD. It’s also worth emphasising that a number of these come with the additional incentive of mentoring.

The different schemes available make it more possible for talented professionals who have the passion but not the resources to progress in their careers and deepen their brewing and distilling knowledge by taking technical qualifications.

IBD maintain the belief that strong technical expertise is very much needed to increase competence among professionals, help businesses produce high quality products consistently and differentiate themselves in the market. So if you, a colleague or a member of your team is thinking about IBD qualifications the following is for you:

Applications are still open for three Scholarships and Bursaries.

  • Roger Ryman Scholarship for Diploma 1 in Brewing
  • JJ Morison for international brewers
  • The Worshipful Company of Distillers (WCD) Bursary for both the Diploma in Distilling and for the General Certificate in Distilling

Please take a look at the requirements to apply for any of these Scholarships and Bursaries and keep your eyes open for another to be announced shortly!

In this newsletter, you will find events to join and the BDI September issue with, amongst others, interesting articles on the resurgence of floor malting in craft beer and how to make the purest gin and vodka.
