This qualification is designed by industry professionals, for industry professionals, and offers knowledge consolidation and proof of competence for Drinks Dispense Technicians.

Replacing the previous L2 Technical Certificate in Drinks Dispense, aimed at brewing installation and maintenance engineers, this qualification expands to cover soft drinks.

The qualification acts as proof of technical knowledge and underwrites the CSIM card, which acts as the sector’s licence to practice card.   is

The course covers a wide variety of elements that the modern Drinks Dispense Technician needs in order to be successful in the dispense environment; topics covered range from gas pressure systems to properties of carbonated drinks and from dispense equipment to codes of practice.

Each unit culminates in a 45 minute multiple-choice examination.

Delivery models

Based around self-guided learning, the qualification is now available in both face-to-face and online delivery models, with various levels of support available to accommodate learners of all levels.

Both the Self-Study and Distance Learning options are completed at the candidates own pace, and exams are only taken when the candidate is ready.

How is the course structured?

The qualification is based around self-managed learning, requiring candidates to utilise the course materials provided and their on-the-job experience to reach the desired learning outcomes.

The course comprises 6 units which make up 2 distinct elements, Health & Safety and Drinks Dispense.

CSIM Card

Running alongside the Certificate and Diploma is the nationally recognised Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) accredited CSIM Card.
The CSIM card is your proof of competence, identity, accreditation and proves your right to carry out installations, maintenance and alterations in the cellar service environment verifies the holder as having the required training and qualifications for the type of work they are intending to carry out.

There are 2 levels of card:

White Card – carried by persons who have passed the Certificate in Drinks Dispense – denotes competence to undertake a risk assessment and survey of the cellar

Blue Card – carred by persons who have passed all 6 units of the Diploma in Drinks Dispense (and practical assessment if required) – denotes competence to undertake installation and maintenance work on the dispense system in the cellar.

Cards are valid for 3 years, at which point they must be renewed.

Standard Rate (non BFBi Member or Brewer) – £39.00 + VAT
Brewers/Brand Owners – £37.00 + VAT
BFBi Members – £21 + VAT

Within the cost of each Unit candidates will receive a electronic copy of the relevant Unit handbook, written and maintained by BFBi, our team of trainers and in consultation with industry experts.

Exam Registration

Candidates will be registered with the exam board, FDQ, and will be entitled to one sitting of each exam, as per their enrolment, through the online examination portal using real-time remote invigilation.

CSIM Card

Each successful candidate is entitled to the relevant CSIM card, valid for 3 years.

Distance Learning

Handbook

Within the cost of each Unit candidates will receive a electronic copy of the relevant Unit handbook, written and maintained by BFBi, our team of trainers and in consultation with industry experts.

Learning Videos

Developed in collaboration with industry experts, Distance Learning and Classroom candidates will be able to access a series of videos that cover the key learning outcomes for each unit and give detailed explanations of tricky concepts or in-depth subjects.

Exam Registration

Candidates will be registered with the exam board, BIIAB, and will be entitled to one sitting of each exam, as per their enrolment, through the online examination portal using real-time remote invigilation.

Each successful candidate is entitled to the relevant CSIM card, valid for 3 years.

Exam Preparation Day

Candidates opting for the classroom delivery method will receive a place on one of our trainer-led exam preparation days.

Exam preparation days help to reinforce the learning objectives achieved during self-study, but should not be expected to replace self-study.

We operate venues nationwide and candidates are able to select whichever venue is the most convenient on their chosen date.

Candidates will be registered with the exam board, FDQ, and will be entitled to one sitting of each exam, as per their enrolment, to take place at the end of the related exam-preparation day.

CSIM Card

Each successful candidate is entitled to the relevant CSIM card, valid for 3 years.
